The History of the Hulk

One of the best characters in comic book history is the Hulk. Introduced by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in May of 1962, the Hulk was a concept of Stan lee as he looked to mix the lives of 2 very popular fictional characters: Frankenstein and Dr.Jeckyl/Mr. Hyde. The result of his vision was the strongest super hero of them all; The Incredible Hulk. The Incredible Hulk is a human being named Bruce Banner who is a scientist. His expertise is the field of Gamma rays. In the 1st issue of the Incredible Hulk, Bruce Banner was testing a gamma bomb for a military base that was commanded by General “Thunderbolt” Ross, who is the father of Betty Ross. Betty Ross is the love of Bruce Banner’s life.

During the testing of the bomb, wherein the countdown was beginning, Bruce sees a young teenager in the testing site. This teenager is Rick Jones. As the countdown was occurring, Banner set out to the test site to save the young Jones and this is when the Gamma Bomb explodes. Banner was able to get the boy to safety but was unable to get himself safe as the gamma bomb exploded with him in it.

After the incident, Banner was found unharmed, to the surprise of all those present in the testing. In the following hours, Banner would feel ill. This is when the transformation to the strongest super hero happens. The plot of this comic book centers on the world fearing the Hulk because they fear he will destroy the world. What they do not know is that hidden in all the strength is a being that cares for the world and will destroy a couple of buildings in the process of saving lives as he battles with many of his arch villains such as The Leader and the Abomination.
